Full-service interior design · Washington, DC
Washington homes have a character all their own. A century-old rowhouse with a narrow stair, a sleek condo with a wall of windows, a family house just inside the District line. Each one asks for a designer who understands the space before choosing a single piece of furniture.
Pierre Jean-Baptiste Interiors is a full-service interior design studio based in McLean, a short drive from the city. We design homes across Washington, DC, and we take care of the project from the first meeting through the final delivery.
Rowhouses tend to be narrow and deep, with rooms stacked along one wall and light coming mostly from the front and back. We plan furniture scale, lighting and storage so each floor feels open and useful. We also measure stairs, doorways and turns during the survey, because a beautiful sofa that cannot reach the second floor is not much help.
Condos bring a different set of questions. Open plans need clear zones for living, dining and entertaining. Storage is precious. Deliveries have to fit a building’s schedule and elevator. We plan around those details early so installation day goes smoothly.
Our Elevated Living project is a good example. For a contemporary DC condo that once belonged to an architect, we added a window-wall bar cabinet, upgraded the terrace with a propane firepit and evergreen planters, and gave the primary suite a sitting room with a sleeper sofa, swivel chairs and built-in cabinetry.
Some design services end with a mood board and a shopping list. Ours does not. With full-service design, we create the plan, acquire the furnishings and finishes, coordinate the work, and set up the finished rooms in your home.
That matters in the city, where time is short and logistics can be complicated. You make the big decisions with us. We handle the vendors, the orders, the delivery schedule and the details that tend to fall through the cracks.

Process
We start with an in-person design meeting at your home to talk about how you live, what you love and your budget. Once you decide to move forward, we survey the space with measurements, notes and photography.
Next we develop floor plans, elevations and design boards, then present the design to you. Design typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, and larger projects are assessed case by case. Photorealistic 3D renderings are available as an add-on when you want to see a room before committing.
After you approve the design, we acquire your selections. If construction is part of the job, we can provide contractors or work with yours. We issue a Scope of Work that ties your finish selections and instructions to the contractor, so the build matches the design.
Furnishings come into our warehouse, where they are received before they head to your home. Our team schedules white glove delivery and setup. Typical projects have 3 to 6 deliveries, and most furnishings include assembly.
Some projects cover a whole home or a full floor. Others start with one room that needs real planning, such as:

A kitchen with cabinetry, lighting and counters planned as one space. See our luxury kitchen design page.

A primary bath or guest bath. See our bathroom design page.

A lower level with a lounge, bar or game area.

A private movie room. See our home theater design page.
For a sense of how we bring several rooms together, take a look at Modern Warmth, a full home transformation, or Luxe Libations, where a blank wall became a custom bar.
